Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of having PMP certification?

There are numerous benefits of becoming PMP® certified. Here are the top three:

  • It is globally recognized and opens opportunities for you to work across the world.
  • It increases you earning power. According to PMI’s Earning Power – Project Management Salary Survey 12th Edition, certified project managers earn as high as 30% more than their non-certified colleagues.
  • It improves your ability to deliver value to your clients using global best practices and standards.
How do I prepare for the PMP Certification Exam?

Here are 7 steps to preparing for the exams:

STEP 1: APPLY FOR PMI MEMBERSHIP
This is the first thing you need to do. If you are going to be a certified PMP, you might as well become a member of the prestigious PMI organization. The benefits are enormous. You’ll also receive a discount on the PMP Exam fees for being a member. Visit pmi.org and register, or talk to us and we’ll guide you through it.

STEP 2: DETERMINE YOUR ELIGIBILITY
Not everyone is eligible to take the PMP examination. Check the PMP Handbook (ask us for this, it’s FREE) to see if you’re eligible. If you’re not, consider becoming a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) instead.

STEP 3: TAKE THE REQUIRED CLASSES
You are required to take 35 hours of project management training /education to be eligible to sit for the PMP exam as a requirement by PMl (We’ve got you covered on this; simply click the Start Now button above).

STEP 4: FILL THE APPLICATION FORM FOR THE EXAM
A common mistake that a lot of people make is waiting until they have studied enough and ready to write the exam before filling the exam application form. It’s best to apply for the exam even before you have started studying. Filling the online application is a tedious project in itself and it’s best that you apply early. You can always schedule your exam within one year of filling the application.

STEP 5: BUILD A PROJECT STUDY PLAN
Project managers seeking PMP certification will serve themselves well if they approach preparing for the PMP exam as a project and create an appropriate project study plan. We have a 30-day and 60-day study guide that helps you with preparing.

STEP 6: EXAMINE THE STUDY MATERIALS THAT YOU HAVE AVAILABLE

STEP 7: MAKE SURE TO USE PRACTICE TESTS TO GET READY

This is the only way you can be sure that you are fully ready to write the exam. You need to be scoring at least 80% on practice tests to be confident in yourself for the exam.

How do I register for the PMP exam?

Here are the steps to registering for your PMP exam:

Create an account with www.pmi.org (it’s free)

  • Fill out application for PMP® and submit (applications take 5 working days to be processed)
  • If your application is approved, you will be asked to pay for your exam
  • If your application is selected for audit, you will be asked to submit in 30 days documents that verify your:
    1. Project management experience (e.g., referees for project management experiences)
    2. 35 contact hours of project management education (e.g., training certificate)
    3. formal education (e.g., Degree)
