How do I prepare for the PMP Certification Exam?

STEP 1: APPLY FOR PMI MEMBERSHIP

STEP 2: DETERMINE YOUR ELIGIBILITY

Not everyone is eligible to take the PMP examination. Check the PMP Handbook (ask us for this, it’s FREE) to see if you’re eligible. If you’re not, consider becoming a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) instead.

STEP 3: TAKE THE REQUIRED CLASSES

STEP 4: FILL THE APPLICATION FORM FOR THE EXAM

A common mistake that a lot of people make is waiting until they have studied enough and are ready to write the exam before filling the exam application form. It’s best to apply for the exam even before you have started studying. Filling the online application is a tedious project in itself and it’s best that you apply early. You can always schedule your exam within one year of filling the application.

STEP 5: BUILD A PROJECT STUDY PLAN

How do I register for the PMP exam?
Here are the steps to registering for your PMP exam:

Create an account with www.pmi.org (it’s free)
- Fill out the application for PMP® and submit (applications take 5 working days to be processed)
- If your application is approved, you will be asked to pay for your exam
- If your application is selected for audit, you will be asked to submit in 30 days documents that verify your:
o Project management experience (e.g., referees for project management experiences)
